Mailhost Config Step-by-Step Tutorial? Where has it gone?

Recommended Posts

I thought there was one here somewhere, I can't find it.

It is so seldom I have to set up a new mailhost that I completely forget how to do it, my age is not helping.

It seems it doesn't like either my headers or my body of the message or both. I just get an error response.

The complete lack of instruction at SC does not help one little bit.

Really SC you should have found an easier way of doing this by now as most people don't even know how to get headers or the difference/dividing point between headers and the body of the message. Some email clients make this hard to do anyway.

Plus isn't it about time someone removed the obituary at the bottom of every page here? With all due respect, it's rather old now. I find it depressing as I'm getting there fast.

OK, followed this to a tee from within SC webmail, several different ways too, and each one gets the emailed response that an error has occurred.

However, maybe I am panicking unnecessarily. I had just checked my Mailhosts and noticed that there was no longer any mention anywhere of my ISP - rogers.com although there is mention of Yahoo and I know that Rogers webmail is essentially Yahoo mail as I can sign in to it using either their log in credentials or Yahoo's.

Thoughts anyone?

The email I got said:

Hello SpamCop user,

Sorry, but SpamCop has encountered errors:

Headers not found.

It appears you did not provide all email headers. Please consult this FAQ

for more information on getting full headers from your software, then try

again.

Please do not respond to this email (replies are ignored). If you need

help, please consult the SpamCop website ( <http://www.spamcop.net/> ).

This email was sent in response to your email:

Unfortunately the FAQ they give there is rather archaic and doesn't include their own mail client.

Hi, Peter,

...Sorry to hear of your problem. Other than rote, brainless following of the instructions I've found here, I have no knowledge of MailHosts. I can only suggest that you contact the SpamCop Deputies (deputies[at]admin.spamcop.net) with your problem.

Plus isn't it about time someone removed the obituary at the bottom of every page here?

...FWIW, my own personal feeling is that after the many years of thoughtful, valuable service that Miss Betsy provided to these Forums, a year is not too long to post the memorial. I wouldn't mind seeing the details of her interment removed, though, or at least changing the sentence to past tense.
