turetzsr Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 <snip>is this real?...It most certainly is real -- a real spam! <g> Clues: "From: 'Spamcop.net Webmail Services' <concreacero[at]une.net.co>" SpamCop E-mail services would not send an e-mail from a server in Colombia! "Spamcop.net will discontinue the use of our spamcop.net Webmail and our spamcop.net webmail Lite interfaces." (AFAIK) There is no such thing as a "spamcop.net webmail Lite." "To ensure your e-mail address book is saved in our database kindly enter your details filled below:" Why would SpamCop e-mail people need this? They should already have your username and they wouldn't need the password you use to access your account just to transfer your data from one database to another!

Phishing spam in this case it pays to have SpamCop report the return address concreacero[at]une.net.co (put email address in "Report spam" box) In this case it refers to email source 200.13.249.231 (reports went there in this case anyhow) adminternet[at]une.net.co postmaster[at]une.net.co abuse[at]orbitel.com.co

salamandir Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 It's a phish spam. We are not making changes to webmail. We don't need your birthdate or for you to email your password to manage your account. Thanks for checking! as i said, the report seemed to indicate that it was a bogus message. i've seen "spamcop.com" messages come through before, and i know they are bogus. i've just never seen a "spamcop.net" message that came through that wasn't bogus, so i just wanted to make sure. thanks! 8)
