Bit of a wish list

Hello spamcop.

I am not too sure that this is the correct place but - well, I have waited too long and have gone green (i am a newish user anyway so it may suit).

Can I please add the following to the wishlist:

1) Could spamcop have options for reporting that also removes pre-stored text so I can a) spamcop to remove text, and; b ) prevent my email address or name text being submitted in reports, also my email account is different to my actual domain email account, etc.. B)

Eg: The from headers, etc.. and multiple email addresses because the spammers sometimes enter more then one email address. Like a fake From header with my secondary email address. The To header has my primary - and spam cop leaves the secondary un-modified currently.

Also - my hosted email is me_link[at]myhost.tld which is connected to me[at]mydomain.tld - both are actual email locations pointing to the same place - but my host is listed in the recived headers - so posting unmodifed reports yelds my email. :(

2) NEW IDEA - but more of a question  .. In IE5.5 the URL/URI of 'http://foo.bar/.' is resolved; does spamcop search such wildcards, etc.

EG: <base href="foo.bar"> and then <a href="<a href="././././.">link text</a>

3)MODIFY the DATE header as spamcop only really needs to confirm the server trace info. I wonder about adding an option to remove usless headers but am unsure its possible - in a working sence that is.

4)Get my name up in lights if you think to use this :D - jk.. lol.. but perhaps some insentive for others to post. ;)

Anyway - thankyou for spamcop - please keep up your excellent works..

PS: no spell check - thats another button

Hello spamcop.
Hi, Jason!

...FWIW, you're not really addressing anyone in an administrative position at SpamCop, here -- just other users (this is principally a peer help forum).

I am not too sure that this is the correct place but - well, I have waited too long and have gone green (i am a newish user anyway so it may suit).
...It appears that our Moderator, Wazoo, has taken care of that. :) <g>

...Do I understand correctly that you are saying that not all "real" e-mail addresses are being "munged" in the reporting e-mail? I know that sometimes happens to me, too, but it's pretty rare -- the SpamCop parser seems to do a fairly good job at catching these (at least for me).

Also - my hosted email is me_link[at]myhost.tld which is connected to me[at]mydomain.tld - both are actual email locations pointing to the same place - but my host is listed in the recived headers - so posting unmodifed reports yelds my email.  :(
...You may want to edit your post to disguise your e-mail address, say, by using "me <at> mydomain.tld" to fool worms (unless you've already done that by changing your true e-mail name to "me").

...The SpamCop PTB really don't like when we do this to the spams we submit, so I really doubt they're going to consider this suggestion. It's worth asking, though.... :) <g>

...Yes, that would be nice. Of course, if you have an application that does that (such as Microsoft Word), you could compose your forum post there, run spell check, make appropriate modifications, then copy and paste here. :) <g>

Spammers are getting trickier - I've seen my real address in the reply-to field (with a few extra characters at the start), imbedded in all sorts of strange places and even disguised with rot13. I would like a little more munging to take place, or a little more permission to mung (to quote the FAQ,

It is okay to munge your personal email address contained within links (emphasis mine) in the body of the spam

but my address isn't always in the links).

Munging is a very controversial issue. However, FWIW, people who select no munging report that they do not receive either more or less spam.

IMHO, the biggest argument against munging is the amount of time it takes. I think it would overload the parser software to have to plan for all the possible ways that a spammer can insert an email address (and add considerable time to the parse).

I don't like on principle giving my email address to untrusted abuse desks, however, I, too, have not noticed a particular increase or decrease in spam by not munging and since I wouldn't have time to send reports if I review and munged every instance of my email address, I actually report more spam by not munging.
