polyp Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 HI [at] all, I am new to Spamcop so excuse my question if its a dump one. I am recieving emails with a time stamp like by XXXX.net (xxxx SMTP Server) with SMTP id xxx Mon, 31 Jan 2005 12:11:57 -0800 (PST) does the timestamp mean that the spam occured 12:11:57 PST or do I have to subtract the 8 hours and it was at 04:11:57 PST ?!? Thanks for your help ! Polyp
Wazoo Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 12:11:57 -0800 (PST) = Pacific Standard Time ... which turns out to be the same as GMT time minus 8 hours ..... This isn't a SpamCop thing, it's a bit of universal time stamping. Folks in other parts of the world don't usually ave a clue as to what "PST" or "PDT" stands for, nor even care actually. But when relating to the "time" ... though the actual name has changed a few times, some folks use other acronyms, but the Time/Date-Line has been a round for more than a few generations. http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/
