Spam notifications

I'm the main abuse admin for the company I work for. We own a fairly large netblock and have allocated a Class C to a client for their resale use. We've been getting notices the past couple days of a problem and only yesterday evening figured out exactly who was allocated the network space in question. We have notified the downstream client and are awaiting their notification that they have resolved the problem, so I would like to suspend further notifications for 24 hours or so to give them time to resolve the problem. However, since it's still "under investigation" I dont' want to mark the problem as "resolved." Any suggestions?
