epgeek Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Saw a recent story in the news that the Chinese want to clean up the Internet. See http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/01/0...rnet/index.html ...per the story, the Chinese are asking other governments to assist their efforts clean up "porn sites". How hypocrital considering most of the spam I receive is advertising Chinese "erectile dysfunction sites" with some real porn subject lines. Now would be a good time for the authorities in the USA and other countries to ask for Chinese cooperation on the elimination of spam sites??? but I'm sure that it will be an opportunity lost because too many greedy people/companies are afraid of offending China.
Farelf Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Well, it is promising that they are making noises about it. The regulatory framework exists in China to 'do something about it'. What is / has been lacking is the will - possibly driven by the fact that the owners of the background 'businesses' (where the money trail ends) are not Chinese - many are in fact based in the USA, it seems. See Devilwolf's topic for a lead on Chinese regulatory provisions/intent: http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=9541
kenmce Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 It may help clarify the situation if you recall that their priorities are not your priorities. Anything that might disturb the social order in China will receive high strength attention. If you can get through to them that you are receiving mail promoting anti-Chinese governmental materials they will act, and act fast. If it is just a case of one yangguizi making a few Yuan off another, why should they care what you do among yourselves?
