Password Problems, Two different password solutions. Options

SpamCop Email services and SpamCop Reporting services are provided by two completely different companies. The two services are attached at the wrists and ankles for spam reporting purposes, but they're run on different systems in different parts of the country.

The only way folks with SpamCop email addresses can reset their password is if they're logged into their webmail account at the time. The webmail server controls the password on the reporting server. Log into your account, use the Options button on the toolbar, and then get into SpamCop Tools. You'll find all the basic settings there.

Your username is your whole SpamCop address, such as: you @ spamcop.net

If you've truly forgotten your password, there's nothing for it but to contact Jeff, the owner of the email service, by writing to him here: support @ spamcop.net
He'll need some details from you so that he knows you own the account you want a password for.


Users with "Reporting Only" accounts (no email services) can get a new password by simply giving their username to the "denied" page when login fails. SpamCop will send you an obnoxious machine-generated password you can use to get back in.

Your username is your whole email address. Only a very few long-time users still have the old one-word usernames, and they know who they are.

Log in with HTTP at: http://members.spamcop.net/

Passwords are cAse sENsiTive and may contain lookalike digits such as, "one" and "ell" or "Oh" and "zero." Our system will allow you to paste in your password if your browser will. After you log in, you can use the "Preferences" link at the top of the page to change your password.


Free reporting accounts don't require login, so they don't need passwords. You can use your access URL to visit your account.

If you've lost the link, you can recreate it by taking the code out of your "submit" address and inserting it onto the end of the link above by replacing the "YourSecretCodeHere" part with it.

If you've lost all the info, all you need to do is re-register your address and get a new set of codes. You can do that anytime you want, and as many times as you want.

(where "Log in here" is a link to the login form page http://www.spamcop.net/mcgi?action=loginfo...rSecretCodeHere (which unnecessarily contains "YourSecretCodeHere" (which we have been referring to as "16charANcodeNMBR" - you can just as easily use http://www.spamcop.net/mcgi?action=loginform) or the two boxes to the left of "Login" anywhere else on http://www.spamcop.net if you're not logged in)). Use of http://www.spamcop.net for reporting (or even reading the latest news unless you use the http://www.spamcop.net/?code hack) now requires login via cookie - if you want to login via simple HTTP authorization (which annoyingly doesn't allow for a "logout" function short of killing the browser instance), please use http://members.spamcop.net if you don't have a SpamCop Email System Account or http://mailsc.spamcop.net if do you have a SpamCop Email System Account.

Unfortunately, an unannounced change we made has rendered that
invalid.

SpamCop will no longer accept a registration for an address that has
already been registered.  Too many reporting addresses being
re-registered as ISP abuse addresses, etc, which was creating multiple
accounts with the same username.

Anyone needing a new 'submit' address can contact me directly and I'll
be happy to create a new one for them.

New passwords can always be obtained by entering the registered email
address in the form at: http://www.spamcop.net/denied.shtml
