dra007 Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 ..funny thing this used to belong to another thread...oh well... why not rename the thread, The Internet Kook Museum?
yourbuddy Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 ...and I thought I was still a newbie... You are correct - an obnoxious newbie.
turetzsr Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 ...and I thought I was still a newbie... You are correct - an obnoxious newbie. ...Please avoid gratuitous ad-hominem attacks (especially in threads I start! ) ...Thanks. Edited, 30 April, 2003 23:05 EDT ...This doesn't make sense unless you know that I originally posted this as a reply in a thread I started: User Level: What's After Level 3?.
dra007 Posted April 29, 2004 Author Posted April 29, 2004 Please avoid gratuitous ad-hominem attacks Perhaps he thought it was humorous... But you never know, he also claims a degree in psychology..If time goes by we may find out that he also plays the violin..
turetzsr Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 Please avoid gratuitous ad-hominem attacks Perhaps he thought it was humorous <snip> ...If dra007's hypothesis is correct, then I apologize to yourbuddy but request that (s)he use an appropriate emoticon or <g> to reflect humor in future.
yourbuddy Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 Please avoid gratuitous ad-hominem attacks Perhaps he thought it was humorous... But you never know, he also claims a degree in psychology..If time goes by we may find out that he also plays the violin.. Still can't read, can you. I said Degree in Business with a minor in Psychology. I can understand you making fun of education or knowledge. You seem to have a natural aversion to it.
yourbuddy Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 ...and I thought I was still a newbie... You are correct - an obnoxious newbie. ...Please avoid gratuitous ad-hominem attacks (especially in threads I start! ) ...Thanks. Gratuitous? I thought he had asked for it
Merlyn Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 ...and I thought I was still a newbie... You are correct - an obnoxious newbie. ...Please avoid gratuitous ad-hominem attacks (especially in threads I start! ) ...Thanks. Gratuitous? I thought he had asked for it This is not the first and definately not the last forum/newsgroup you have made a fool out of yourself in. It will not be long before your name is added to the internet kook museum. good luck.
dra007 Posted April 30, 2004 Author Posted April 30, 2004 This is not the first and definately not the last forum/newsgroup you have made a fool out of yourself in. Apparently not, but he is a constant source of <<gratuitous>> laughs, and not even knows it...
yourbuddy Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 Merlyn and dra007 ... Your inane comments are what was expected, in fact, they've been made by you before. Say something intelligent
dra007 Posted April 30, 2004 Author Posted April 30, 2004 oh boy, why is it that remark made me laugh!
yourbuddy Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 oh boy, why is it that remark made me laugh! Because that's your response level based on mental capability
turetzsr Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 ...and I thought I was still a newbie... You are correct - an obnoxious newbie. ...Please avoid gratuitous ad-hominem attacks (especially in threads I start! ) ...Thanks. Gratuitous? I thought he had asked for it ...Perhaps so, perhaps not, but certainly not in this thread. <g>
turetzsr Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 oh boy, why is it that remark made me laugh! ...Perhaps you thought it ironic and irony makes you laugh? <g>
yourbuddy Posted April 30, 2004 Posted April 30, 2004 I thought dra007 statements moronic (not ironic), and that always makes me laugh (I like the clowns).
turetzsr Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 I thought dra007 statements moronic (not ironic), and that always makes me laugh (I like the clowns). ...But I think he was suggesting that your post was ironic, not he being ironic. <g> ...It's fun to watch two clever people (yeah, I know, each of you thinks there's only one <g>) rag each other ... at first I found it alarming but now I'm treating it as friends engaging in good-natured ribbing (don't tell me you're not friends -- I know that but I like to imagine it!). <big g>
dra007 Posted May 1, 2004 Author Posted May 1, 2004 Perhaps you thought it ironic and irony makes you laugh? Perhaps, only in this case irony would have to be drastically redefined! PS. (don't tell me you're not friends -- I know that but I like to imagine it!) ...there you go, now you are redefining friendship! I still like a good laugh!
turetzsr Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 <snip> PS. (don't tell me you're not friends -- I know that but I like to imagine it!) ...there you go, now you are redefining friendship! I still like a good laugh! ...Naw, I'm an economist by academic training ... we make lots of counter-factual assumptions! <g>

dra007 Posted May 1, 2004 Author Posted May 1, 2004 ...Don't tell me you're an economist, too!!?!?! Frankly he sounds more and more like a <<micro- or perhaps pico-economist>>....Sorry, I couldn't help it!

Degrees in Business (minor in Psychology), Law (specializing in Contract Law) and Engineering (specializing in Industrial Engineering), but Economics is of great interest to me (took several courses in it) - a bit of a "dismal science" that adjusts readily to facts - when the theory doesn't match the actual events as they occur, but a "noble science" when it comes to the hypothetical inference for evaluation. If you want a "friendly" disagreement, ask two Economists the same question. My "business" is actually that of "actuarial science".
turetzsr Posted May 1, 2004 Posted May 1, 2004 <snip previous quotes> ...Naw, I'm an economist by academic training ... we make lots of counter-factual assumptions! <g> In a "micro" sense, he's an irritant (like a small bug) In a "macro" sense, he's just part of the mass of nonsense ...Don't tell me you're an economist, too!!?!?! <big g> <snip> If you want a "friendly" disagreement, ask two Economists the same question. <snip> ...Why two when one is sufficient? ..."On the one hand, thus and so might happen; on the other hand, such and such might happen." It was replies like this from his Chief Economic Advisor about the effects of each proposed new policy that led the President to wish for a one-armed economist! <big g>
