btech
i have a question. If I use the "Quick Report" off SpamCop mail, it send the report to 1, sometimes more people. But, if I look at the report afterwards, I see something like this (taken from a recent report: ---------------------------------------------------- Reports regarding this spam have already been sent: Re: 63.227.76.25 (Administrator of network where email originates) Reportid: 1101068096 To: abuse-nonverbose[at]qwest.net If reported today, reports would be sent to: Re: 63.227.76.25 (Administrator of network where email originates) abuse-nonverbose[at]qwest.net Re: 63.227.76.25 (Third party interested in email source) spamcop[at]imaphost.com Re: http://deskhelp.info/sv/index.php?pid=eph9106 (Administrator of network hosting website referenced in spam) security[at]telefonicaempresas.net.br abuse[at]telefonicaempresas.net.br Internal spamcop handling: (spambr) mail-abuse[at]nic.br ---------------------------------------------------- So does that mean the other persons won't be contacted? I tried the "Queue for reporting and move to trash" option, but after 10 hours, the spam wasn't reported. What way is the best to report, to ensure that ALL persons who should know of the spam, DO? thx .b.
Wazoo
QuickReporting only goes after the source of the spam spew. If you want reports/complaints to go to other places involved or included within the spam, then do not QuickReport.. However, analyze the parse results to ensure that those identified should be contacted. The SpamCop parser is only a tool, it is up to you as to what happens with the parser results. dbiel
I tried the "Queue for reporting and move to trash" option, but after 10 hours, the spam wasn't reported. If I understand this statement correctly, you are right, the spam will never be reported. Assumption. You are in the heldmail folder. You have checked the messages you want to report. you have selected 'Queue for reporting and move to trash" option You have clicked on "Release / Delete selected messages" You waited and saw the response Submitted message xxxxxx for reporting Moved message xxxxxx to trash Note separate enteries for each and every message processed. You thought you were done reporting. Wrong. You only completed the first step. Next step: click on "Report spam" The reporting window will open You will see the following entry Unreported spam Saved: Report Now Click on "Report Now" Review the results from the parser and decide which reports should be sent. Uncheck any that should not be sent or cancel entire report Click on "Send spam Report(s) Now" You will see an acknowledgement of what reports were sent You will NOT receive an email acknowledgement (those are only sent with quick reporting which does not provide immediate acknowlegements) If I have miss read your message, then please explain in detail how you did report it. Did you follow the steps listed above or do something else. With out more information no one can tell you why after 10 hours, the spam wasn't reported.
