StevenUnderwood
Keep in mind that the mailhost configurations are shares and the name is not important. Only that your IP and/or mailhost is listed somewhere in the list. If you share your IP with other hosts, there may be lots of information that does not pertain to you in there. The name was setup by the first person to configure it and they used a personal type name rather than the hosting company. If this did not help, you will need to send this request, along with a lot more information to deputies<at>spamcop.net to get it figured out further. The least amount of information they will need to know is your spamcop account (email address you used to sign up) and the particulars of the mailhost you are trying to configure. Wazoo
If you look at Julian's Pinned posting on Delays, Waivers, and .... you'll see his explanation that the database is a shared asset, so things change all the time as far as what "shows" .. but then in another Topic, another poster complaining of the same issue, I made the same pointer, but Ellen came in and changed stuff. So bottom line once again, read the Pinned items, make your decision on the issue, then follow the same bit of guidance offered almost everywhere in this Forum .... talk to Deputies <at> admin.spamcop.net .... As you rightly say, mailhosts are shared.
Ellen
but then in another Topic, another poster complaining of the same issue, I made the same pointer, but Ellen came in and changed stuff. You seem to have an issue with the fact that I changed something at sometime for some reason as I have seen you post this same thing previously. Can we get this cleared up ? -- either her or in personal mail or by changing/combining/rewriting pinned issues or by some other method?
Wazoo
You seem to have an issue with the fact that I changed something at sometime for some reason as I have seen you post this same thing previously. Can we get this cleared up ? -- either her or in personal mail or by changing/combining/rewriting pinned issues or by some other method? Sticking with the FAQ issue, there've been numerous items posted in here (and over in the newsgroups) relating to the lack of "sufficient" guidance on the Mail-Host configuration set-up sequence. I remember pointing out that you (at that time anyway) seemed to be the only person other than Julian that had any insight into the whole thing, so it seemed like only you could handle writing something up. There's a posting in here that says you had it on the calendar; In a couple of weeks, we are going to do some serious work on reworking some of the explanantions etc so if you want to wait til then that's fine. We need to get this pushed out to all the users so sooner rather than later you will have to face up to it. So not to give you a hard time, it's just that the questions and comments are still arriving that the data isn't to be found. I just did up the version of a SpamCop FAQ in here, and noted that the www.spamcop.net FAQ still doesn't have a link showing, and linking to the existing Pinned items that still leave folks confused didn't seem to be the answer either. Yes, a FAQ would be nice. Today, there's a post and a PM to me asking about what happened to the link on "the start page" (?) for the mail-host thing .. I'm guessing that the 'remark' was dropped as it's no longer "new" news and that there's a button on the screen labelled MailHost .... but new users (and turns out at least one that says she'd been using SpamCop for years) didn't have a clue what it was about or for (and it turns out that configuring it solved her problem) .... Any objection I have we've touched on before ... In this case, I/we point to a post by Julian, some posts by you, some previous conversations that say "this" .... then, from out of the blue, you swoop in, "do" something a bit contrary to what even you had previously stated, drop a little note, then swoop away just as quickly. Thus I/we are sitting here wondering what to point to the next time the question is raised .... the previously posted informational items or that one little note where you took some special action in that one case but left no explanation why that one case was 'special' .... (maybe this one isn't the best example, as you at least mention "looking silly" here, but as you say, I had to include this additional line whenever I was also referncing the existing Pinned items, as you were taking actions that were outside the Pinned explanations)
