adrian1
I have received spam which when you look at the "sent to" box its a completely different person...I'm not even a cc addressee...how do they do that??
DavidT
Very simply....by using their "BCC" function ("blind carbon copy"). You can address a message "To" anyone you want, but put the actual recipients in the BCC and they won't see their address on the message. Miss Betsy
I remember seeing a discussion about how BCC addresses do show up on occasion. Now I don't remember where I saw it, but I received an Nigerian (really about a Nigerian this time) scam email this morning where all the BCC addresses were listed (and there were a lot!) It is also courteous if you are sending to a lot of people to use the BCC so that their email addresses are not on many, many machines. My sister-in-law doesn't do that and I am plagued with runs of viruses (but no spam). Every so often after a run of viruses, then I get a spam. Circumstantial evidence that spammers use viruses to collect addresses. Miss Betsy
