Few basic questions

Let me start by saying this program is great & I believe it will really create a huge impact (even more than it has now) on spammers.

I created a new (free) SpamCop account, and then figured out I could forward my emails to an address like: submit.some-random-key-here[at]spam.spamcop.net

So i forwarded around 15 different e-mail to the same address (the submit.some-random-key-here[at]spam.spamcop.net one) and everything seems like it worked.

I logged into my account, and could not see any of the emails in there. Is there a duration between the time I forward spam to SC for me to see it in my account?

Also, one e-mail was sent back saying it was not spam. Here is the e-mail:

SpamCop encountered errors while saving spam for processing:

> We've tried to include features in the program for students with many

disabilities. I needed Spanish in my classroom, so Spanish was added. I wanted

something to engage students who are not interested in language, thus musical

interludes and movement were incorporated. I wanted to be able to change the

prompts (music, movements, etc.) on-the-fly. We wanted to provide for those

requiring augmentative communication device and so the Mayer-Johnson symbols

are included and can morph from the photographs. I wanted a cause-and-effect

program for my students who didn't understand the automatic scan. The Switch-On-

Picts activity was developed. We realized more types of scans would be

advantageous. Three types of scanning routines have been added. I wanted 2 and

3 piece puzzles. Here they are. One of my parents wanted Dr. Seuss types of

stories with real pictures. We wrote some 'ditties' and here's StoryTime. today

As you can tell, this is in fact spam. What should I do?

Also, what is "fuel" and why would I need it? I searched the FAQs and couldnt find any info about it.

The problem is not that it was found not to be spam. It is in the way the message was forwarded to spamcop.

1. You have exposed your secret submit address and should contact service<at>spamcop.net about cancelling that account and create a new one. Spammers do lurk here at times.

2. The message you forwarded does not show the full headers...there are no Received: lines at all, nothing for spamcop to parse.

3. Your method of forwarding modified the spam message by adding the > character to the start of every line.

You do not mention what tools you are using to try and report the spam but in general, you should be using "forward as attachment" rather than a straight forward. Please see the FAQ about how to receal the full headers for your mail application.

Also, fuel is used when you support the reporting only service by paying. Right now there is little difference between your account and a paid account (you do not see the request for fuel message and you get a good feeling you are actually supporting the cause). The answer is in the FAQ+ at the top of this forum, under "Member and account management questions" then "How am I billed for SpamCop?" which points you to: http://www.spamcop.net/fom-serve/cache/81.html

Thanks, I removed the info about my email in the post, didn't even think about editing those. I also sent a message to the service address.

I forwarded the message using the "forward" button in Cox's WebMail. I assume if I use OE, I could just click the forward button and do it like that in the future?

No. You need to use "Forward as attachment" or something similiar. Many webmail systems do not provide the possibility to forward as attachment.

The parser receives your message and strips off the headers for delivering the message to the account. What should be left is the full headers for delivering the spam from spammer to your account and the body of the spam, unmodified. Please see the FAQ section in these forums titled "SpamCop Parsing and Reporting Service".

The Service at spamcop was really fast with a reply, and gave me a new link :)

I forwarded a bunch of email to the secret address. Out of the 20 or so, 4 of those e-mails were a forward as attachment that consisted of around 5 diffeerent e-m ails included in the attachment.

I received 4 e-mails back from SpamCop saying that "SpamCop has accepted 1 e-mail for processing".

Do I have to forward each e-mail individually? Or can I highlight all the spams and do a "Forward As Attachment"?

Size limits on each specific spam (50k). size limits on the entire "set" of attached spams (100k) ... have you looked at the FAQ, are you reading those responses now seen and comparing them to the spam submitted, ... just a couple of the questions that seem to be lurking over your queries to this point.
