shull2805@spamcop.net Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 What is the preferred method of reporting a single spam sent to multiple cc:'d addresses? I have a domain, call it mydomain.com. If a spammer sends email to user1[at]mydomain.com, and sets up cc:'s to: user2[at]mydomain.com, user3[at]mydomain.com, etc., should I report it as 1 occurrence of spam, or multiple occurrences? Thanks, - Steve
Jeff G. Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 IMHO, report as many copies as you received into your mailbox(es). This is consistent with my methodology of checking one mailbox at a time, one message at a time, with no cross-checking. If the mailserver or abuse of it is your responsibility, you can report as few as zero instances, once per MAIL FROM sent to that mailserver, as many as once per RCPT TO sent to that mailserver, or somewhere in between, depending on how much time you want to put in.
