lartingyou Posted March 26, 2021 Share Posted March 26, 2021 Hello - abuse@cloudflare.com receives the reports for tinyurl.com spam links, e.g. https://www.spamcop.net/sc?track=https%3A%2F%2Ftinyurl.com%2F , yet my searches with Google show that abuse should go to abuse@tinyurl.com -- is there a reason it's not using the abuse address? Also, Cloudfare is the abuse address listed for tiny URL so SpamCop is sending report to the listed address abuse[AT]tinyurl[DOT]com seems correct but you will have to add it yourself to report. When they do something for free that is what you get. For some reason I so-far/recently have not got spam shortened with tinyurl? spammers use "bitly.com" instead? I have one piece of .RU spam "Are you looking for some fun dates?" that alternates between tinyurl and bitly whenever one or the other mole gets whacked. I sent manual larts to abuse@tinyurl.com and one link got stopped for spam (it clearly says it when you visit the link, although I never got any ack on the larts, so I'm dubious which vector made it happen). There had been over 10 reports for the same URL sent to the cloudflare address over 2 weeks. I'm trying again with a fresh link to see if it makes a difference. I can report back if it's useful. Suspect Tinyurl would automate blocking with no drumroll Cloudfare probably bit bin reports give this rhetoric in their auto-ack Cloudflare is not a website hosting provider, and we cannot remove material from the Internet that is hosted by others. I believe that originally SpamCop was setup to report URLs to the ISP hosting the content. They did this to avoid reporting directly to the spammers, who at the time, would setup they own domain and abuse address. Reporting spam to the ISP, SpamCop appears to look up the IP the domain is pointing to at the time and report that IP to the ISP. If we can trust the abuse of the domainname such as in this case, SpamCop should be able to report to the domain's abuse address instead of to their hosting ISP. Nevertheless, all I can say it is extremely weird what you are describing. After all, Google should definitely use the abuse address.
