How Do I Show Technical Details?

Whether or not the SpamCop Parsing and Reporting Service shows "Technical Details" while parsing depends on two different settings.

If you want to "Show Technical Details" for just the next "Paste entire spam" parse, just Check the "Show technical details" Checkbox before you Click the "Process spam" Button (you can then Uncheck that Checkbox when you're done parsing).

If, on the other hand, you want to switch from "Hide Technical Details" to "Show Technical Details" for most of your parsing (or you want to "Show Technical Details" for a Tracking URL), please click the "Show technical data" Radio Button (rather than the "Simple output" Radio Button) in the "Show Technical Details during reporting" Section of your Advanced Preferences at http://www.spamcop.net/mcgi?action=showadvanced, http://members.spamcop.net/mcgi?action=showadvanced, or http://mailsc.spamcop.net/mcgi?action=showadvanced.

There are two ways that you can choose to 'show' or 'hide' Technical Details (link to Glossary Item) for a SpamCop parse.

One way is a Checkbox below the webform next to the button to 'Process spam' or 'Clear Form'.

Another way is your Advanced Preferences. The choice there is between 'Simple Output' and 'Show Technical Detail'

In either method, your preference remains until you change it.

To access your Advanced Preferences:

Reporting Only members, or Email Service Customers.

Glossary Item

Technical Details: The logic the SpamCop parser uses as it finds the right reporting parties for your spam. This can be helpful for advanced users who want to double-check SpamCop's logic, or for new users who want to learn from SpamCop's example.
