drjohn
Hi, I wonder if anyone here knows what's up with Suespammers.org e-mail (and maybe Spamcon too). I haven't been able to find any discussion on the 'net about it. I haven't received any e-mails between Friday 10/20/06 and today (10/22). I have sent test messages to myself and not received them, had websites send me verification e-mails that never showed, and one business contact who e-mailed me said on the phone that she got an error reply. All message rules/filters deactivated (not that I had changed them recently anyway), still no e-mail. Tried a different e-mail client, still no e-mail. I ran Mac Mail's Connection Doctor, it said "Connection and Login to Server Succeeded". Oh, that's just great. I think I remember this happening before and it was due to a server outage or flooding attack. I called both Tom Geller and Doug Muth and left messages, but who knows if those were the best numbers. I added all of Doug's public instant message names to my lists but he hasn't shown as online yet. Is there anyone who can help?

drjohn
Well, sent another test to myself and still doesn't show up in my box (local client or remote web access).
drjohn
Update: Instant messaging with Doug Muth right now. He is "no longer involved with the SpamCon Foundation, which runs suespammers.org." So if you're also a Suespammers user, please don't bug him like I did. Source (Doug's Blog): http://www.claws-and-paws.com/node/1113 The error message one would be likely to get for some addresses is on the blog. Additionally, Tom Geller said he is "not currently in any way related to this organization." Source (Tom's Blog): http://tgeller.livejournal.com/110940.html So, same goes for him. Now what Tom did advise is to e-mail current SpamCon Foundation officers ted[at] and laura[at] (spamcon.org). That's what I'm going to do right now. drjohn
Finally got a bounce from my postmaster. Munged... Most likely there is a network problem that prevented delivery, but it is also possible that the computer is turned off, or does not have a mail system running right now. Your message was not delivered within 4 days and 0 hours. Host suespammers.org is not responding. The following recipients did not receive this message: <me [at] suespammers> Please reply to <Postmaster[at]cox.net> if you feel this message to be in error. Wazoo
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 451 4.7.1 Greylisting in action, please come back in 00:30:00 may be the issue .... the timing of their greylisting requirements and your ISP's re-sending time intervals may not be close enough to fit into each other's window of opportunity. But, as no one here would know the timing configurations of either end, not sure what to tell you, short of getting the data or these two server Admins to talk to each other ..... AFAICG, everybody sending e-mail to *[at]suespammers.org is not having success. So, our individual ISPs would have nothing to do with de-FUBARing the SS server. Started as of 5 minutes ago, the connection to the server "mail.suespammers.org" on port 110 times out. It's possible it's being worked on right now... It's possible it's being worked on right now... Port 110 would be POP for retreiving messages from their servers. Port 25 would be SMTP for sending messages to their servers. Perfoming my manual test, I got the following error: 220 plushie.suespammers.org ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.9-20030919/8.12.9; Thu, 26 Oct 2006 12:50:27 -0700 NO UCE C=US L=CA ehlo underwood.spamcop.net 250-plushie.suespammers.org Hello 66-168-115-246.dhcp.oxfr.ma.charter.com [66.168.115.246], pleased to meet you 250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES 250-PIPELINING 250-8BITMIME 250-SIZE 250-DSN 250-ETRN 250-DELIVERBY 250 HELP mail from: <underwood[at]spamcop.net> 452 4.4.5 Insufficient disk space; try again later
drjohn
Timeout is no longer present since I've been awake today, but the test message still didn't get delivered. drjohn
Just started saying this today: "The server "mail.suespammers.org" refused to allow a connection on port 110." Hmmm, that's new. Does that mean they're working on it?

Does that mean they're working on it? As stated before, access to port 110 is not going to tell you anything unless you have a POP account on that server. Port 110 is for getting mail from a server not sending mail to a server. That being said, there are no connections allowed to port 25 on that server (mail.suespammers.org and mail.spamcon.org).
