nemesis Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 spam cop has been working good for over a year but since today i cannot report spams anymore. I get this message an all spams i try to report. "Here is your TRACKING URL - it may be saved for future reference: http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z1117604303z2...04aaa04c54ca05z No source IP address found, cannot proceed. Add/edit your mailhost configuration Finding full email headers Submitting spam via email (may work better) Example: What spam headers should look like No tracking information found in header:" I have tried FAQ and it says that the reporting line has to be there. And it is with the header in the report as this for example. "Return-path: <tkeez[at]elevator-in-thyssenkrupp.com> Received: from mac.com (smtpin55-en2 [10.13.10.25]) by ms15.mac.com (iPlanet Messaging Server 5.2 HotFix 2.08 (built Sep 22 2005)) with ESMTP id <0J7S00BUKA13JJ[at]ms15.mac.com> for banjoatte[at]mac.com; Fri, 27 Oct 2006 00:27:03 -0700 (PDT) Received: from mario (p54895984.dip.t-dialin.net [84.137.89.132]) by mac.com (Xserve/smtpin55/MantshX 4.0) with ESMTP id k9R7QjC9023872 for <banjoatte[at]mac.com>; Fri, 27 Oct 2006 00:26:56 -0700 (PDT) Date:: Fri, 27 Oct 2006 09:34:03 +0100 From:: Philip <tkeez[at]elevator-in-thyssenkrupp.com> Subject:: To buy or not to buy? What´s wrong. To me it seems to be something wrong with spam cop.
Wazoo Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 What´s wrong. To me it seems to be something wrong with spam cop. OK fine .. SpamCop.net is broken for you. On the other hand, one might ask you to explain just how the text below got inserted at the top of your spam submittal .... which I would suggest is where the problem actually exists .... this data is not anywhere near "header" data, so the parser simply bails out ... based on a bad submittal .... nemesis Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 I have successfully reportet more than 6 mb of spam during the last years with no problems. I have just copied the full message incl the body. Since this week I can´t report anymore I get the errormessage like this "SpamCop v 1.600 Copyright © 1998-2006, IronPort Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. Here is your TRACKING URL - it may be saved for future reference: http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z1120787345z5...62a63669e355caz Probably not full headers - see FAQ: Email software FAQ no header" I have read the FAQ and also contacted Spamcop but their answer was more confusing to me. It was like this "The reason you're getting an error message from SpamCop when you submit spam for reporting is because the headers are mangled. An example of what you're submitting is reproduced below my signature. Please notice that there is some sort of irrelevant text appearing *before* the headers. That text is followed by at least one blank line. A blank line signals the end of the headers and the beginning of the body text. When the parse doesn't find any headers in the first part of the submission, SpamCop balks and gives you the error message. You have to get rid of that extra text and submit just the header info and body text only. Also notice that there isn't any body text with the first example. SpamCop won't process spam with no body text." But where are the missing lines in this example above? But according to FAQ you are not adviced to tamper with the header by yourself. My questions are Why did this happend now( Can it be connected with the new macmail that was launched this week.?) Is it something wrong with the computer settings? Is there anything that I have do do with my own computer Mac powerbook G4. Is there anything that I can do with my emailhosts, Mac mail and apple mail? Please somebody give me an answer that even I can understand? This is the last spam copied and I got the same errormaesswage. Moderator Edit: 1. disgusting porn spam posted in its entirety removed from this post . totally unnecessary. 2. This "new" post was moved out of the MailHost Configuration Forum section .. merged into an existing Topic by the same poster, same subject, same questions, same data, etc. in the Reporting Forum. 3. PM sent to advise of all this activity.
Wazoo Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Not sure I understand your confusion. Don/Deputies asked exactly the same question I did in my last post in this Topic, although I used a lot fewer words. At this point, you're the only one that has a ghost of a chance to answer the question asked .... where is all that extra data coming from? There is nothing shown that has any bearing on the MailHost onfiguration of your Reporting Account .. this whole problem centers on just how you are submitting the e-mail/spam data to the parsing system ....
agsteele Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I have successfully reportet more than 6 mb of spam during the last years with no problems. I have just copied the full message incl the body. Since this week I can´t report anymore Hi Nemesis! The information you've provided is not sufficient for anyone to identify what has happened. As Wazoo has noted, there appears to be something very strange with the message headers you're submitting. It does not look to me as if you are submitting the spam Email in the correct format. Can you describe, in simple steps, what process you follow to submit the spam? Please tell us which Email program you are suing to do this. That may enable someone familiar with your mail program to give advice. Andrew
nemesis Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 Hi all and thanks for your support. I found the solution. When apple launched thir new webmail this week they added a new feature. a box "hide" that you can click on if you want to see the message without the full header. So I pasted the header checked the text. There was the word hide. I deleted it and voila. I also now paste just from the beginning of the heade.r hopefully it will work now. Thanka all again regards Anders W
