PaulJW Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 A strange thing happened to me yesterday, and I'm not sure if I should be concerned. About 6 e-mails from the 12th and 13 of Sept. 2006 appeared in my inbox. These are messages that I remember receiving. On the Webmail they end up at the bottom of my list of e-mails, but Outlook put them on top so I noticed them. I just wonder how this could happen and if it is a sign of a significant problem. Here is the header from one of them (with some stuff anonymized, SENDER = Sender's e-mail, MYEMAIL is my username): Return-Path: <SENDER[at]ts.jgh.mcgill.ca> Delivered-To: spamcop-net-MYEMAIL[at]spamcop.net Received: (qmail 15334 invoked from network); 5 May 2008 22:04:19 -0000 X-spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.2.4 (2008-01-01) on filter8 X-spam-Level: X-spam-Status: hits=0.0 tests=none version=3.2.4 Received: from unknown (192.168.1.107) by filter8.cesmail.net with QMQP; 5 May 2008 22:04:19 -0000 Received: from devfw1.messagingarchitects.com (HELO node3.site) (64.254.233.100) by mx70.cesmail.net with SMTP; 5 May 2008 22:04:19 -0000 Received: from mojo.vdn.ca (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by node3.site (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5D200A320621; Mon, 5 May 2008 19:23:48 -0400 (EDT) Received: from bc-node1.vdn.ca ([10.127.1.31] helo=bc-node0.vdn.ca) by mojo.vdn.ca with esmtp (Exim 4.34) id 1GNAWh-000B1g-TD for MYEMAIL[at]vdn.ca; Tue, 12 Sep 2006 11:50:19 -0400 Received: from drizzle.cc.mcgill.ca (drizzle.cc.mcgill.ca [132.206.27.48]) by bc-node0.vdn.ca (spam Firewall) with ESMTP id A64B8397A3E for <MYEMAIL[at]vdn.ca>; Tue, 12 Sep 2006 11:50:18 -0400 (EDT) Received: from mailscan2.cc.mcgill.ca (mailscan2.CC.McGill.CA [132.216.77.249]) by drizzle.cc.mcgill.ca (8.12.11/8.12.3) with ESMTP id k8CFoGeV024040 for <MYEMAIL[at]vdn.ca>; Tue, 12 Sep 2006 11:50:18 -0400 Received: from ch06gjuif00003.intranet.jgh (dalet2.JGH.McGill.CA [199.202.96.19]) by mailscan2.cc.mcgill.ca (8.13.6/8.13.0) with ESMTP id k8CFnj7Z004705 for <MYEMAIL[at]vdn.ca>; Tue, 12 Sep 2006 11:49:45 -0400 (EDT) Subject: RE: To: <MYEMAIL[at]vdn.ca> X-Mailer: Lotus Notes Release 5.0.9 November 16, 2001 Message-ID: <OF61B9F286.0BD1B150-ON852571E7.004C973F[at]jgh.mcgill.ca> From: SENDER[at]ts.jgh.mcgill.ca Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2006 11:52:28 -0400 X-MIMETrack: Serialize by Router on ch06gjuif00003/jgh(Release 6.5.4FP2|September 12, 2005) at 09/12/2006 11:52:34 AM MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable X-Virus-Scanned: by Barracuda spam Firewall at vdn.ca X-SpamCop-Checked: 64.254.233.100 132.206.27.48 132.216.77.249 199.202.96.19 X-SpamCop-Whitelisted: mcgill.ca
DavidT Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 In this case, the problem appears to exist at "vdn.ca" -- it looks as if their servers are doing the redelivery of old mail. Here are the two hops: Received: from mojo.vdn.ca (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by node3.site (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5D200A320621; Mon, 5 May 2008 19:23:48 -0400 (EDT) Received: from bc-node1.vdn.ca ([10.127.1.31] helo=bc-node0.vdn.ca) by mojo.vdn.ca with esmtp (Exim 4.34) id 1GNAWh-000B1g-TD for MYEMAIL[at]vdn.ca; Tue, 12 Sep 2006 11:50:19 -0400 You should contact VDN.ca.
