"provider" or ISP?

Recommended Posts

I've gone through the initial setup process for the new mailhost configuration on SpamCop.

I have a domain which I MX to my home system (cable modem). For the most part, the IP address stays the same (although it is officially dynamic), as my system is on 24x7.

I listed the provider as the default that the form provided which is "mail.mydomain.com" - which in fact my "provider" is the ISP.

I just want to ensure I've not messed this up in any way.

Thanks.

As an aside which we can move elsewhere if the conversation starts up, you may want to arrange to send mail via a different server if you do not already do so.

Although the IP rarely changes it will be listed as dynamic and likely lead to your outgoing mail being blocked if you send through this mail server on your machine. Many ISPs block mail sent from dynamic IPs.
