I tried to log in tonight to report some spam using the url I've used for the last 2-3 years and got a "No userid found" message.

What browser are you using? Looks like someone has been playing with the code (last 8 hours or so). I didn't get the same result but logging in with Netscape 4.79 briefly produced a page with "old_brower" (or similar) in the URL which I have never seen before, then a "page not found" message. No hassle in my case, the "report spam" link was on the page and following it allowed normal reporting function.

If your problem persists, suggest you respond with browser detail and maybe a Moderator will bump it upstairs for a look. Hopefully it is just temporary. Maybe it's another manifestation of the cookie problem reported in the other topic http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3729#

I haven't a clue as to what's going on, based on the fact that my cookie files were changed a bit over a year ago ...yet newsgroup traffic and another Topic here at http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=3729 deal with folks having an ancient bookmark in place. The solution seems to be making sure that your cookie is up to date, but use the simple http://www.spamcop.net for the boolmarked URL.

What browser are you using?

Hi Farelf,

I'm using Firefox 1.0.

After playing with it for awhile I noticed that the page showed me logged in at the top though the page's content claimed otherwise.

Hope they get this worked out quickly...

Thank you for your response and time.

Okay, I just logged in a couple of times to my reporting-only account/submission page page through http://members.spamcop.net/ ("HTTP basic auth", not cookie log-in) using Firefox, no problems using the browser so I guess I'm not replicating your situation. I set the "remember password" option on the first entry and it all happens transparently now, as it is supposed to.

Does Wazoo's solution help you? I don't think anyone is about to fix anything just yet because "it doesn't work any more" isn't triggering any recognition. But I agree *something* changed for me too, but only with the old browser - seems like a cookie issue for you?

  • 1 month later...

Just signed up today. Login via the web pages workes fine. My ISP's Webmail has got a 'report spam' link, and this keeps giving me a 'No userid found' message from spamcop (even when the top right of the screen shows me as logged in).

Any idea how I find out what userid it was attempting to log me in as?

Cookies for my registered login are definetly set up. Browser is Mozilla 1.7.3.

I'm confused. Most "report this e-mail as spam" seen on a web-mail screen ends up being something to feed that ISP's spam filters. I'm not familiar with some other ISP trying to provide a link for its users to thorw a spam e-mail complaint to the SpamCop system. If this is really true, then I would think that there must be some configuration mode that you've not finished .. i.e. somehow feeding this link with your SpamCop account data. The real question for me is what this link actually does. Can you provide the URL of that link? (the right-click, check properties thing .. in theory, this would show you/us what is being attempted when clicking on that button, including "who" it is trying to log you in as ...??)
