Outlook Error?

Recommended Posts

Is it just me, or is anyone else getting errors when trying to collect mail via Outlook.

Been using Outlook to connect for yonks, never had a problem, but there is nothing on the status page. Can still login etc to the webmail function.

Been like it for last 12hrs or so, that i know of.

Error is :

Task 'Spamcop - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

None of my other email accounts/server connections are having this problem, and I've been into webmail and deleted all mails from inbox and held mail.

Soz if this is in the wrong forum

You didn't mention the connection mode (dial-up / cable for instance) .. you didn't mention the Trash Folder .. You have yet to answer about an IMAP connection ....

Sorry... been in bed (am a UK user!!)

I'm on an ADSL connection. I'm using a pop connection although I've got to admit the server was set at mail.spamcop.net (but have now tried pop.spamcop.net too - and still the same)

I've emptied all folders in webmail (always do, as soon as I've reported I empty trash)

I haven't changed any settings to any of my email accounts and its only recently started doing this, and just on my spamcop account... not my isp's, nor any other of my accounts. I've done a test account settings in Outlook & it finds both SMTP & POP servers but doesn't login (I have re-input my password etc just in case).

Thanks for the help

Can't connect to your posting IP with a Ping or a traceroute, so no knowledge gained that way. Maybe you could run these things from your end and let us see what kinds of numbers show up.?? If it means anything, my traceroute attempts die at the same place using three different tools ....

Do you notice any difference if you enable SSL (which sets the port to 995) in "More Options-->Advanced" tab, then click "Test Account Settings" again? If it is currently enabled, try disabling it for this test.

The only difference I notice when I change to SSL is that the error number is different :

Task 'Spamcop - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

telnet pop.spamcop.net 110

+OK Hello there.

USER yourname[at]spamcop.net

+OK Password required.

PASS yourpassword
