laura-lou Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 Hello, i have never been on a forum before so please excuse my ignorance...but i wondered if anyone could help me please? I have discovered that spam emails relating to debt reduction is being sent out "supposedly" from my domain/email address. I have never and will never have anytging to do with sending spam and i dont know if theres anything i can do to stop this? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Laura
shmengie Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 Hi Laura-Lou, There is little to nothing you can do about this. The e-mail in question most likely does not originate from you or your SMTP server. If someone you know is accusing you, have them use spam cop, which will indicate to some degree the actual source of the e-mail. Although the origin may be from within the same isp, based on the odds, that is not the case. My guess is that someone who has you in their address book, is infected with a robot virus. That virus/robot may be pulling your e-mail address out of the hat, to be the originator of the spam. From the spammer's/virus author's point of view, it makes it *more* likely the spam will be read and possibly acted upon.
laura-lou Posted May 11, 2005 Author Posted May 11, 2005 thank you for your advice, guess i will have to hope it burns itself out!
shmengie Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 Here's another thread in this forum which may shed some light for you. http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?...indpost&p=26552
Wazoo Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 Most folks "hear" about their domain being forged when they gat hammered with bounced, non-deliverable e-mail. It happens so often that a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) entry exists. check the Forum FAQ, look for the entry "Why am I getting all these bounces? Updated! "
ccton Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 I've got three mails "delivery failed", there is one of the them: Hi. This is the qmail-send program at aussiecom.com.
