jongrose Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Sorry, the video seems to be corrupted. I'm going to try and reupload it somewhere else. Please feel free to delete this post.
drjohn Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 It would appear to be Torrented. http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3544417/SPAM_The_Documentary Downloading, then will seed until 1:1.
jongrose Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 I have uploaded it to Veoh, but it seems to be stuck in verification limbo. You might be able to download it, but you have to use their client software to do so. There's no spyware or anything nasty in it. It's sort of like Youtube, except there is no size or length restrictions. http://www.veoh.com/videoDetails.html?v=e1514724k5pNpzy
jongrose Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 Ok, the video is up! The new documentary CBC "spam: The Documentary" contains a look at the origins of spam from Monty Python, a meeting with the man who sent the first spam message ever recorded over the ARPA network, and interviews with John Levine and one of the heads of SpamHaus. It's a funny movie because the narrator takes the time to test out some of the spam products often sent to us, including penis enlargement patches, diet creams, and learns other information about the basics of spam. spam: The Documentary (Veoh) 43:56min I believe you are required to download the client in order to view the entire video, past the first 15 minutes. agsteele Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I believe you are required to download the client in order to view the entire video, past the first 15 minutes. Thanks for pointing this up. Just enjoyed watching the video. Nothing new in the content but still an interesting view. Worked for me without downloading any client software. Just played straight inside my Firefox v2.0 browser. Wazoo Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Ah, cool. I don't even remember if I was on the internet then... Had an immediate thought dealing with old musicians and those good old days ... dropped it, figuring most folks would have never heard of Dr John anyway <g>
