Wazoo
From the newsgroups .. user has been "pointed" to 'here ... any answers would be appreciated ... I've noticed something new in my last several email reports but do not see anything similar in my webpage of held mail: Binary file /home/spamcop-net/karensw/.Held Mail/new/1115329748.0554917089.blade4 matches Binary file /home/spamcop-net/karensw/.Held Mail/new/1115357046.5354723031.blade6 matches What does this mean? Is spamcop stipping attachments off of the spam now and storing it separately? Am I supposed to do something about it? Also, I logged into webmail for the first time in forever to see if these "binary files" were something I needed to deal with and see that some of my held mail in the webmail account have pictures of heads next to them. What does that mean? It does not seem to correlate with html or attachments and certainly has nothing to do with the addressbook. TIA, Karen

The "picture heads" are messages addressed to one of your webmail identities. By default, that would be your spamcop.net address, but could be anything you have configured. StevenUnderwood
OK, I rarely have messages in Held mail long enough so turned off the daily report. You are welcome for the picture heads answer.
Wazoo
In an e-mail from JT; Interesting. She's just got an invalid email in her Held Mail and our Held Mail report is generating that line. If she deleted that email from her Held Mail, or just logged into her Held Mail actually, that would go away from the report. Jeff
Wazoo
From a PM, hoping there's a bit more that might be suggested ... JT says to delete, she says she deletes, yet ...???? Missing is the method of access, thinking that an IMAP connection is probably one idea, but ... if the e-mail is mal-formed ... and noting that this one carries a different ID tag number ..??? I'm reminded of one marketing e-mail I keep getting via a sneakemail account that is always complained about, as whoever constructs that e-mail somehow manages to send it without the closing Boundary marker, the closing HTML statements, etc. I was rather surprised at the lack of responses, but it appears that your situation wan't a 'normal' issue. I asked JT to take a look, I posted his answer in the Topic I opened for you at http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4132 .. but I'm suspecting that as so much time had gone by with no real response that you may not have checked back in to see this possible answer ...??? I saw JT's reply and my held email is deleted every day. My most recent held email report from today, May 22, has: Binary file /home/spamcop-net/karensw/.Held Mail/new/1116738052.5570210062.blade3 matches I'm dropping the issue. If I don't find where to delete it on my own, I'll just ignore it. Thank you for all your help and interest with this. While I'm thinking of it again, might you be 'the' Karen, author of tools? I'm flattered, but no I'm not. I'm familiar with her tools and used many of the them before switching full time to linux a couple of years ago. Wazoo
OK, another user chiming in (kind of) .... new user makes a post in this Forum section Titled and asking to have his Forum account deleted .. I moved that to the Lounge as it made little sense to be 'here' .. nevermind the extra commentary on the tedious sign-up issues and even then complaining that his e-mail address was now exposed ....???? A bit later, I hit the newsgroups and find this posted "over there" .... Hello chaps, I have spamcop mail send me a mail weekly with the held mail list. This mail is supposed to be a summary list of the held mail file. I just noticed that it is actually missing about half of the emails in my held mail folder. Here is a snippet of the mail: From: "Xrs.French[at]netzero.net" <Ldl.Cote[at]sbcglobal.net> Subject: Pre-approved Application #0467768140U Thu, 26 May 2005 05:41:02 -0800 ------------- Binary file /home/spamcop-net/aaronlawrence/.Held Mail/new/1117221439.8041510056.blade2 matches ------------- Binary file /home/spamcop-net/aaronlawrence/.Held Mail/new/1117179722.9393428385.blade1 matches ------------- etc etc. Real mails interspersed with these "binary file ... matches" messages. There are 14 real mails in my latest list, and 22 "binary file matches", and my held mail folder actually contains 37 mails. I would appreciate having this fixed as the mail is pretty useless if it doesn't show the real email details. The powers that be seem to have backed off the originally announced plan to have webmail be the primary way to report. Although, the <http://webmail.spamcop.net> is new since I last used this report. I never leave messages in my Held mail long enough for the report to actually be useful. Plus, now that I have dropped my most spammed address, I am only getting about 5-10 spams per week

Jeff G. aaron
I'm still getting lots of them. I have no folders in my webmail, indeed I very rarely use webmail. Hm, I guess this would be due to grep (or whatever is doing the search) thinking that the mail file is binary, because it finds something in it considered binary, such as control characters.
