Message IDs have changed

Recommended Posts

I now have 3 spam in my mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld mail folder that cannot be deleted nor reported.

ERROR Shows:

Message-ids have changed, cannot alter 12799

Message-ids have changed, cannot alter 12962

Message-ids have changed, cannot alter 13039

I had this happen once before and I was able to rectify but forgot the steps I used.

Any ideas on how to eliminate these held mails?

What you are seeing appears to be VER's representation of a problem it is having with manipulating messages in your SpamCop Email System IMAP Held Mail Folder. VER will get confused if you try to use it in two browser windows at once. Please try to manipulate those messages directly using Webmail and/or an IMAP Client. Please see Jeff G.'s Guide to accessing SpamCop email using OE and IMAP for more info on using an IMAP Client with the SpamCop Email System.

Jeff,

I normally use Outlook with a folder set to homepage:

mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld?action=heldlog]http://user%40spamcop.net:password[at]mailsc....?action=heldlog

I have closed Outlook and logged in using IE and accessing the heldmail through my http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld URL.

Attempting to delete or remove these problem mails results in the same error message.

I have logged in using different PCs over a few days and no can fix.

When I had this problem before I believe that this process allowed me to remove the offending messages but not this time. I don't know how to get VER to refresh my list and get message IDs it can understand.

Any other suggestions?

DennisD

I don't know how to get VER to refresh my list and get message IDs it can understand.

The web site you posted was not webmail but the VER page.

I think what Jeff was saying is that VER can not refersh you list in this situation and you should log into webmail and delete those messages directly there. You may be able to do it using your local IMAP client (don't know if Outlook does IMAP). The link for webmail is: http://webmail.spamcop.net/ or: https://webmail.spamcop.net/

Right you are again Jeff and Stephen.

I used the URL you gave in your response http://webmail.spamcop.net and was able to report and delete the out of sync mail.

I am confused why using URL http://mailsc.spamcop.net/reportheld didn't allow the same fix. In both cases I end up at the same heldmail URL but reaching it from different starting points. Yours allows the fix mine did not.

Not important for me now as your link worked just fine and problem solved. Maybe the explanation would be of some use to another member.

Thanks again,

DennisD

In both cases I end up at the same heldmail URL

We were talking about staying inside of webmail and opening the Held Mail folder (pull down at top right), not clicking the Held Mail link at the top center of the page. That action will bring you right back to the place you were before (the VER page). I really wish these two items had different names as it has caused confusion in the past.

If you simply went back to the VER page, the only explaination I can give is there was a timeout somewhere that expired or some background operation refreshed the account and allowed you to proceed as normal.

The address you should have been at would have been similiar to: http://webmail.spamcop.net/horde/imp/mailb...newmail_popup=1
