I noticed when I signed into Spamcop though, that very few "showed up" as it were, and there wasn't much to report. When I went to my Previous Reports section and clicked on View Recent Reports, there were 20 that only said "No Reports Filed"! Does that mean all the work I did to fwd that garbage is lost? It is quite possible this is related to the couple hours of downtime showing in the graph at the top of the page. It appears, unless I am adjusting the time incorrectly, that these were submitted in the hour before the shutdown. I have seen other issues with reported items (some previously reported spams no longer available). My (purely speculative) guess is that this data is gone forever. Just by chance I happened to go to my past reports tonight in the midst of a spam reporting binge to find I've been wasting the past hour reporting spam to SPAMCOP and all these reports are down the frakkin toilet! I am going to wait a day before completing the rest of my reports because what would be the point????? I FWD'ed the spam and when done, I came to my SPAMCOP page and began reporting and everything seemed to be proceeding, as far as I could tell, completely normally! I even, after the fact, looked at the SPAMCOP Server Status and I can't see didley squat that tells me anything is or was wrong. Can't there be some way to just have a page come up in this instance and say, "Sorry we can't file your reports now" as we get during other outages or maintenence???? Wouldn't this be better than screwing the people trying to help here????? To do all this work of FWD'ing and finishing the reporting just to find it was ALL FOR NOTHING is totally LAME, extremely aggravating and works against what SPAMCOP and it's members are trying to achieve. Look at all this wasted time and effort below!!!! This is ridiculous. How in the h_ll is one to know when to NOT fwd spam or go through the reporting process if no one tells us?? Since you say that you were reporting 'normally', the assumption is that there were no error messages and that you actually hit the 'Report' button (one of the reasons for 'No reports filed' for other people). Therefore, after I searched on 'reports filed' (if you use a two letter word, the search doesn't work) to find out what other threads there are, there probably was a delay in actually sending the reports. If you check 'Past Reports' again, you may find that they have been sent. However, if the reports still haven't been filed when you check, please post again. Include in your post, exactly how you are submitting reports and the steps you are taking to report them. Copy the Tracking URL at the top of the page and post it also so that others can see the submission and perhaps see why no reports are filed (though, now that I think of it, I think I saw something that said there is no Tracking URL for reports that were not submitted. But if there is nothing there, then that confirms that the report wasn't sent. If it is there, perhaps someone else can see the error). There was a bug a while back and possibly it has returned. Maybe a brand new post was in order but I figured I should keep the subject in the same thread. I can't remember now if, when I FWD'ed the spam last time this happened, if they ever showed up to be reported on my spamcop page. I presently have spam waiting to be reported but I am hesitant to do so until I know my efforts won't be in vain. Last night's past reports are still showing the same status. I blocked the spamcop email addy since I don't need notification that spams are ready to be reported so I don't get an up-to-the-minute status of progress. I just went ahead and reported a spam in my queue as a test, noting the subject ("What is generic stands for") so we'll see what happens to that one. Please notice that those spams were submitted on July the 24th. I don't know what your normal reporting procedure is, but I would guess that on July 24, you didn't finish your routine and those spams are left over from that. emanmb Posted August 27, 2007 Author Share Posted August 27, 2007 I've just gone ahead and sent in the balance of spams that I FWD'ed to spamcop late last night and were queued up ready to be filed. It's kinda bassackwards to have the date the system received the spam vs when it was reported (i.e. when I hit "Report Now") especially when trying to figure out which spams didn't make it. Oh well they are only some among billions per day I guess and hopefully they at least made it through to Knujon. But I digress. Don you were correct and as I reported these spams, the No Reports Filed shortened till it was gone except for a couple that had become too old. Although it's obviously a little misleading to see No Reports Filed when in the midst of reporting, causing one to think that they've just wasted a bunch of time and effort, please view this as a SUPER EMBARASSED emoticon. -------> I'd delete my first post on the 26th if I could! e Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
