  1. Hanco, when I follow your Reporting URL I get normal completion. Follow your Tracking URL again. Next time try refreshing your browser. Let us know the results.
  2. If someone would provide a Tracking URL it would help others evaluate the problem. I do not remember seeing any evidence of browser based issues. On the other hand, web mail apps, like mail.google.com, have caused problem. Providing information about how you are reporting would be helpful. Are you using your browser to cut & past into the SpamCap web reporting application from your mail app? Or are you submitting vi email and then using your browser to go to spamcop.com? Or are you cutting & pasting from a web email application? Any details would help others help you.
  3. There is no direct correlation between an individuals spam submission and a change in spam received. An exception to that would be if your ISP (email server) uses the SpamCop Block List. Otherwise, there would not be a notices change.
  4. Glad to hear things are better.
  5. You give them more credit than evidence I have seen. Why spend the time and effort? Which is more cost effective 1) Maintain some database/records to sort out 10 100 emails out of a 100,000 emails sent? or 2) Just change IP/ host when/if you get blocked? For example I have been reporting ~20 years and my domain receives a hundred or so spam every day and I report them all. If your suggestion were correct you would think by now even the dumbest spammer/bot/cartel would have figured out to RED flag my domain; or at least some of the mailboxes they spam. I admit I have no controls or filters on the front end of my mail server so that everything is received. I filter incoming locally, and report all the chaff. Keep in mind, IMHO, most spammers or those running a bot farm, have bought or were given a tool, files of emails and content to send. Not the sharpest knives in the drawer. How often do you receive spam that has been mis configured? "Dear ," or "Hi <name>," Or some other obvious blank not filled in? I am male. I get spam for woman's underwear, morning sickness. Lots of UK specific events Those are the ones I spot among the drugs, sex, sunglasses and right wing and preppers.. Example 2) It level of smarts it takes to spam an anti-spam website AND not filter the forum out of the rotation after years and years (I am assuming no one here clicks trough ) Just my observation.
  6. There is no "OOOPS" button. What is done is done. In case of a bot I don't know how but to be nice you could send the owner an "I'm sorry" in case there is a problem. In reality, if this was a valid email from a good source that sends lots of email, one report will have no affect.
  7. I refer you to Rule #3 In particular Spinosa's Corollary.
  8. I concur. Have used them for years and have had experience getting a refund when the seller did not deliver.
  9. Not me. I did received one sexual picture/video spam. On the other hand I received again today 4 "for $86 " will SO your domain. Unfortunately there are 3 domain in my name + one I am the contact for.
  10. Have you noticed how much effort is put into the parser to handle, explain how to report from, all the different email apps and net work applications? gmail, outlook come to mind. If you add to those every changing issues, the need to interface with those file systems, GUI it becomes a big task. Might explain why there are not maintained applications. JMHO
  11. Yes I too am using a older version of TB. Have gotten zero response to questions about changes to make Habul compatible. To me the tool is more important than the upgrades.
  12. By adding "Fuel" will remove a delay from the process. It would seem your email address is on the spammers list. Submitting spam does not get your email off of the spammer's list. It does, hopefully, get the spammer shut down. The bad news is that spammers trade, sell their list of emails to each other. From my experience spam of this type does seem to go in cycles, so like a kidney stone, this to "shell pass."
  13. I don't think so. Look at the header. The "Registered Email is the FROM: address of a spam report you sent to them (byway of SpamCop) . When they (Auto Replyed) the SpamCop system forwards it to you. The <some numbers> is the report number (that is how (only) SC links the report and their reply back to you without revealing your email address. Login to your SC account and click on the "Past Reports" tab and enter the report id <Some Numbers> to see the spam and who the report went to.
  14. You might try again. There is a "Nothing to do" at the bottom, but when I login and look at the Tracking URL, I see the above. It does devnull because of other messages to abuse{AT} have bounced.
  15. Sorry I missed this before. I started to just mung the poster's email. Then I started on all the other emails and links. Spammers do crawl through this forum (who would have though?) an search engines do base ranking on number of links, among other things and we would not want to help them out. This is why a Tracking URL is the preferred way to reference received spam
  16. Kind of. When you see that a report is send to abc#domain.com{AT}devnull.spamcop.net A report was not sent to abc{AT}domain.com for several possible reasons (that is the spammer, reports have bounced in the past, they have ask NOT to receive spam reports from SpamCop...) The report is added to the local database for statistical use. Your report of this spam does add to the SpamCop Block list and that is no small thing.
  17. As I remember the email standard includes the "." and "emanphoto@" is different than "eman.photo@" However, some free email providers, like gmail, ignore the "." in the mailbox so the two are effectively the same. Given that, No, your test email to "eman.photo@" was delivered to only one mailbox - you. As for the emails from Digital River, et al, Someone may be trying to using the email address to create an account. Of course without validation no account will be generated. The Digital River system automatically send a challenge email each time an attempt is made. Lots of the challenge email I receive include at the bottom something like "If you did not request this account, please disregard this email"
  18. Several thoughts. You had marked 4 of the 12 spam I cleaned up just now. In the morning (when you read this) one member, sometimes two, will mark the spam before I delete it even when I sleep in. Another way to look at it is On "Thursday" 10 members visited the forum 6 show 1 post and have 1 warning point (i.e. been band for spamming) 2 have joined and not posted yet. That leaves 2 members in good standing ( + me)

    SCBL Usage

Just realized I may be confused. petzl are you talking about the SCBL or blocking login to the forum? The design of the SCBL has been long established. IP addresses come and go from the list depending on established rules based on reports and emails to spam traps. Domain name are not part of the calculation. I don't think that will ever change On the forum blocking blocks of IPs or domains becomes capricious. Looking at the logs and email addresses of spammers first we should block gmail, outlook etc.based on the number of spam posted by those confirmed email addresses.

    SCBL Usage

No I do not see a why to adjust ReCapure As for a block of IP that would be a philological change above my pay grade. In that light looking back at logs for the month of August, if we are going to blocks of IPs then we should block gmail and outlook. Which of course we can't.
  21. FYI While setting up a new phpBB I noticed that if enabled the SpamCop Block list to filter user's IP. spamhuas is also used. The option cautions about "slowdowns" and false positives. Not sure how admin will know about false positives.
  22. I was guessing. IF my experience today is indicative I just suggested that a human passes the capcha then a bot takes over (using the same PC/IP) and creates several accounts to later post the spam. I think there are several approaches in use. 1) A bot, does it all opens account, replies to the challenge email, and post spam. (15min - hr between join and spam). 2) cheap labor does step 1 & 2, bot post spam. 3) Some poor sap does it all. I think a signs of human are changing the photo, posting 'interest', 'about me', sex, location, etc. But most spam accounts don't do anything except post one spam.
