zachariah
I go to Options > Personal Information > Edit your identities. I then type in something new for "Identity's name:", "Your full name:", and "Your From: address:" and also check "Save sent mail" and choose the "Sent" folder under "Sent mail folder:". I then click "Create". I get the message: The identity "Home" has been saved.. I then click "Compose" but the new Identity is not in the From: menu. I then go back to Options > Personal Information and the new Identity is not under "Your default identity:" nor is it available under "Edit your identities". Why won't it stick? Is this system-wide or just a problem with this account? (I've been able to do this on other accounts in the past) (if it's not affecting everyone, how do I start a trouble ticket?) zachariah
Could someone (anyone) please try adding an identity in their webmail and tell me if it stays? Thanks!
Wazoo
Based on the recent "announcement" of a database upgrade .. this may also be related to some 'filter' issues as seen at http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=6676 ???? That one is still waiting for a response from JT .... But none of this answers the question .... "where the heck have you been?" <g>
StevenUnderwood
Could someone (anyone) please try adding an identity in their webmail and tell me if it stays? Thanks! I tried and had the same issue as you did. Also, after the identity appears to be created, down at the bottom of the screen (scroll down) was this error message: A fatal error has occurred DB Error: unknown error Details have been logged for the administrator. I am forwarding this info to JT.
agsteele
The error may have been fixed since the previous posts but I have just successfully created an Identity using the previously described process. Andrew
StevenUnderwood
Reply from JT on this topic: Steven, Yes, it's likely that the database upgrade has turned up something that is incompatible with the older webmail. The good news is that we're also in the middle of testing a big webmail upgrade. I'll check, but this probably will fix the database problem with identities. The webmail upgrade can hopefully be rolled out in the next few days. In the meantime, we probably won't be chasing down this bug but will spend the time getting the new webmail out instead. Feel free to report this on the forum. Jeff

StevenUnderwood
spamcop.net' post='45413' date='Jul 25 2006, 01:41 AM'] I have been having the same problem for a few days! Please try to fix this asap! · First, it is not a great idea to use an email address as a login address as they can be scraped quite easily and used for spam runs. Please contact Wazoo if you wish to change this. Second, Did you read the post just above the one you made? This bug will not be fixed in the old webmail as the new will be out shortly (maybe as soon as this weekend).

StevenUnderwood
...Not sure if this is what StevenUnderwood was referring to but please see SilentLarry's latest reply in thread "Webmail - can't change filters or identities". No, I was referring to my post with JT's reply on this topic: http://forum.spamcop.net/forums/index.php?...ost&p=45282 Which states they are focusing on the new webmail rollout rather than tracking down bugs in software being replaced in a week. zachariah
... But none of this answers the question .... "where the heck have you been?" <g> Hey Wazoo, I've been trying to change careers ... ie, I've been in school. I have this summer off, but will be back to minimal-online-status again at the end of August. Thanks for the info, and I can't wait to see the new webmail system ... (I'm about to go looking for details, but...) does anyone know if it will be accessible via https still? edit: hmmm .... I couldn't find any details on the webmail upgrade. Will is still be horde imp? Are there new features? Will I finally have my wife stop bugging me because of the lack of html or pictures in the body of the message? (and if so, will it be able to be switched on or off for people in the addressbook?) edit 2: I noticed the account data compromised thread. I reported this on a couple other forums I visit. I wanted to comment in that thread, but it's locked. Here's what I would have said: I hope no one is too upset about this. This is just the nature of web applications. It was a flaw in the forum software (Invision Power Board) and out of the hands of those who run spamcop. There is a lesson in this: on public forums, use a throw-away-able email address -- always! Then if there is ever another successful attack, you'll just be able to throw away the address and then put in a new one.
bcstones
...Not sure if this is what StevenUnderwood was referring to but please see SilentLarry's latest reply in thread "Webmail - can't change filters or identities". Not sure if I'm at the correct reply but I notice that the replies about changing the system over were from last week. I'm still attempting to just change signatures & delete an old identity but have been unable... I suppose I'll just wait (there is nothing earth shattering about either)...but will keep trying until something gets done.

kenh
My email address has changed but I am totally unable to change my default identity or to add a new one. Evcerything seems to take, I get a message that the change has been made, plus the same error message that everyone else has reported. This is maddening because every message I send shows an invalid reply address. How in the devil do I fix it?

You can try to contact support[at]spamcop.net and if JT sees it, has enough information from you, and a second to touch the database directly, he can likely make the change for you. However, he has reported he is trying to get the new webmail system available this weekend, so your choices may be limited.

I'll wait the weekend before I attempt any of my changes - to see if your changes have taken place Thanks again.

OOOPS, that is my work domain, and you are right, there is no user there Tha address to use would be support[at]spamcop.net of course. Going back to edit that post if I can.
